IPL Photo Rejuvenation
Pigment & VesselsIntense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a non-invasive technology that uses high intensity pulses of visible light to heat specific areas of the skin in order to diminish blood vessels and unwanted brown spots, create new collagen, and reverse the effects of sun-induced aging. IPL requires minimal downtime, and can successfully treat a wide range of facial concerns such as rosacea, broken capillaries, benign brown pigment and age spots safely and effectively, without damaging the surrounding healthy skin. We have chosen the Palomar Artisan Aesthetic System with the Max G Handpiece, the most powerful and efficient system on the market to date. To achieve optimal results, 3-5 treatments are recommended.
IPL Vancouver Photo Rejuvenation Frequently Asked Questions
Is the procedure painful?
You will experience a mild sting or snapping sensation as the gentle pulses of therapeutic light are passed over your skin. The sensation is quite comfortable and easily tolerated. The Palomar system’s built in chill tip minimizes the heat sensation and settings are always adjusted for individual comfort.
Topical anaesthetic creams are not required for IPL but are available for individuals who wish to numb the skin prior to treatment.
How many treatments are required?
How many treatments are required?
A series of three to five treatments are recommended for optimal results. Each treatment takes less than one hour to perform. Treatments are scheduled approximately three to four weeks apart. Treatments within a series can be postponed if you plan a holiday or you have tanned skin. We assess the skin prior to every treatment to review your progress and ensure the skin condition is appropriate.
What will my skin look like after the procedure?
Your skin may look slightly flushed and feel warm. After the treatment the aesthetician will provide you with an ice roller to cool the skin and ice packets to take home for comfort. A soothing post procedure balm and SPF lotion is applied to the skin for sun protection and hydration. We also offer a complimentary Colorescience mineral make-up touch up after treatment to provide additional protection and conceal any redness for the remainder of the day.
How long do the results last?
The results achieved from the treatment series can be expected to last for several years with proper homecare and sun protection. IPL photorejuvenation can dramatically reverse and correct many visible signs of aging and sun damage. However, with the passage of time and with environmental exposure, skin ages as we do. The improvement from a series of treatments can be easily maintained with a touch up every 4 to 12 months.
