DiamondTome™ Microdermabrasion

Vancouver Microdermabrasion

Vancouver Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a skin-freshening technique that helps repair facial skin that takes a beating from the sun and from the effects of aging. It is a quick, safe, effective form of exfoliation for all skin types and colours with no downtime or discomfort.  At La Derma we use a diamond-tipped applicator with a slight suction to remove dead or damaged skin cells. Skin will appear softer, smoother, brighter, clearer, fresher and younger looking.

At La Derma all Microdermabrasion treatments are followed by a soothing, regenerating serum or mask depending on individual skin’s needs.

DiamondTome™ Microdermabrasion Vancouver Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the skin benefit from Microdermabrasion?

Approximately every 28 days we create a new layer of skin.  As new cells form they push their way to the surface where dead cells and other debris then settle. This can cause enlarged and / or clogged pores, a bumpy uneven texture, and a dull appearance.  As we age this skin renewal process slows down leading to the appearance of older skin with less radiance.

Is Microdermabrasion the same as Dermabrasion?

No, Microdermabrasion is NOT the same as Dermabrasion. Dermabrasion is a much more aggressive procedure which has to be done in an operating room, whereas Microdermabrasion is much gentler and can be performed in the office.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments needed depends on the result each client desires. Usually 6 microdermabrasion treatments, scheduled two to four weeks apart will meet most people’s expectations. After the recommended number of sessions, you may want to schedule a treatment every two to three months, for maintenance.

What should I expect after treatment?

You may experience a slight tingling sensation and skin may feel tighter as if exposed to the wind or sun.  The treated area may appear slightly flushed and this generally fades in 12-24 hours. You will have sunscreen applied after your treatment, to avoid sun damage. Continue the use of your home skin care regimen as recommended by our office.
