Fractional laser skin resurfacing is effective for improving age spots, sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, surgical scars, acne scars and stretch marks. As a rule people need about four treatments scheduled one to two months apart, though for deeper lines or scars more treatments may be required.

At La Derma we work with the Palomar Lux 1540 non-ablative fractional laser with XD Microlens. We chose a Palomar product because they are the leader in the laser market place and more effective than other lasers, and because they don’t require consumables such as treatment tips, cold air devices or dyes to perform treatments that means fewer treatments and a lower cost for our clients. But not at the expense of great results!

If you’ve ever wondered why it’s called Fractional think of aerating your lawn in the springtime. With a Fractional laser the laser beam is fractionated into tinier beams which penetrate the skin and coagulate the targeted tissue allowing the body’s own healing mechanism to kick in and cause new collagen and elastin fibers to form. And with Fractional laser skin resurfacing there’s very little downtime as the areas of the skin that are not affected help to speed up healing.

Unlike some of the services we offer, Fractional procedures are appropriate year-round as they bypass the melanin (pigment) layer of the skin, but when you’re having Fractional laser skin resurfacing treatments it’s imperative that you use SPF. Mind you, we always recommend using SPF!
